The day before Novacain were due to play Woodkirk Valley I went to the Well with my mate Spen to see Freewheeler for the second time since they changed their name from Cloudburst.
As their guitarist Jamie was my schoolfriend, and had been in Carenza, the group I left to concentrate on Novacain, there was always an air of competitiveness whenever we saw each other's bands. Despite this I was happy that Freewheeler were improving as players and writing better tunes. Although their songs often followed the same arrangement, with arpeggiated chords for the intro and verse, full chords for the chorus and then a guitar solo, they had some really good melodies, especially the tracks "Time Of Our Lives" and "Talking To Angels".
